Woah youth camp was fun !! Meaningful too.
Before the camp i was really inconsistent with my walk with God, and here was a chance to spend 3 whole days in communion with God. So i prayed that God will allo me these 3 days to learn about him. The most amazing thing was that i prayed i'd hear from God about whether he will be willing to accept me back into his family after i had betrayed him so many times, after i had fallen away so many times, after re-dedicating my life to God and den growing cold again. Amazing thig was that first day, the sermon went straight into "If God was loving, wouldn't he accept everybody?"
by the third day, we were touching on Romans 8:11 "if the spirit of Him who raised Christ Jesus from the dead lives in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also, through his spirit who lives in you." How could i have forgotten that Jesus had already won the battle with sin, overcoming the worst of sins with his blood on the cross. Surely mine was no big deal for him to overcome. Our salvation has taken care of the past (the penalty of sin ) the present (the power of sin, guilt )and the future (presence of sin). Nothing you can do, can make him love you more, and nothing that you've done, can make him close the door.God said, "Abide in me and i will abide in you".
The most crucial lesson i learnt however was that we cannot do anything to gain more acceptance from God, he has already called us his own. Before the world began, we were on his mind, part of his plan for eternity. God has already made the way clear, specific and to the point, Jesus is 'the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through me'. No matter how hard we try to re-commit our lives to God after falling away, we'll jus come crashing back down, it's called gravity. And it's our sinful nature, after Adam and Eve chose to disobey God. So we shouldn't rely on our own strength, less we come crashing back down. Instead, God has already provided the way, to accept Jesus as our personal saviour, the one who paid the price on our behalf.Only den can we, from a rock (illustration by Dave Percy) falling due to gravity, be transformed into a bird that can take flight. "But for those who hope in the lord, he will renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not be faint" (Isaiah 40:31). A prayer answered ?? U bet !! really, if we sincerely seek God, he will open up to us too ! Actually he has always been reaching out to me, it's me who has shut God out for too long. "seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be open unto you !"
Den the last day sermon: WILL YOU HOP INTO THE OFFERING BAG?!
WOW!! Will I ?? Lord give me strength!! The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak!
So what else happened at the camp? Well, start only i had to demonstrate frog cheer.. thanks Dot!? Haha. Den.. AmazinGrace. first stop, salvation army, had to choreograph a dance to our camp theme song, Consuming fire. Den flew over to Toa Payoh town park to fly kite, had to find strangers to join us for bonus points, singaporeans are not very friendly people huh.. especially the older generation.. haiz.. First few times the kite kept crashing cos we had little space to run and had to turn 180degrees a few times. Den it was off to United square, crawl around the water fountain ?? Man, i'm gonna get u back in tomorrow's games man.. Den it was off to causeway point.. was sposed to find out how much bread breadtalk produced but they said it was a secret so we did an alt task, David made us do a tribal dance around a lamp post at Woodlands Mrt station. Den sposed to chiong back to camp, but we ended up waiting 20min for the bus at the interchange ad as a result the other 2 teams caught up.. "let us be one voice, that glorifies your name.... and we pray oh God, grant us unity.." Sheesh, talk about togetherness!! lol, anyway, rushed back to camp to build a shelter.. Guess we got carried away when david said might as well do a good job.. end up we checked in last.. nvm lah, it was fun anyway !! hee.
2nd day, played games, John, Ben and I ran the games.. first game.. haiz, i think i didn't spell out the rules cleary enough.. i should have said no grabbing the other team, no pulling shirt, attacker no pulling cloth, defender no stealing balloon.. so many complaints.. sorry lah, difficult for me to see too you know.. i'm not a fly with compound eyes.. nvm lah, after that talked to some of the guys and i think they felt better, me too.. Den station games, HAHAHAHA all of u dunked yourselves into the sea for nothing!!! Oh man, i'm so evil!!! Haha. Den fun night and BBQ was fun!!! The skits so funny!! Group 3 deserved to win lah. Their's fulfilled the criteria fully.. and it was hilarious too.. I was laughing like mad.. =p Den disco in Training room 1.. lol caleb was the only one really dancing.. the rest of us.. hmm.. haha. I just realised i could have used some of my school mass dance moves.. lol.
"Speak only of things useful in edify, encouraging, and building up one another.. "
I guess that may seem random.. but. Oh well.
Captain's ball a 1.30am? Woah the last shot!! oh yea. *High five*, Dot! haha. Den we talked random stuff till 2 plus.. Vincent and Dexter are funny!! Telling the story of little red riding hood.. sheesh. But of course, random talk is just empty chit-chat for good times sake. Had a chance at real fellowship as well, thank God for that :) Before this sharing like that was rare.. but i'm sure there'll be more in the years to come.
